La Cité is delighted to welcome you to celebrate World Animation Day with us, featuring a special programme of screenings.
Come and discover or rediscover Louise by the Shore, in the presence of its director! Jean-François Laguionie will introduce the screening and take part in a discussion with the audience afterwards. To extend the film experience, you can view the original drawings at the Musée du cinéma d'animation.
At the end of summer, Louise watches the last train of the season – which serves the small seaside resort of Biligen – leave without her. The town is deserted. The weather rapidly deteriorates, and the great equinoctial tides set in, cutting off electricity and means of communication. Fragile and coquettish, far less well-equipped than Robinson, Louise is unlikely to survive the winter. But she is not afraid and sees her abandonment as a challenge. She will come to terms with the elements and solitude. Her memories take the opportunity to join her on this adventure. Until an explanation is revealed to her and everything returns to normal.
