CITIA has a long-standing commitment to supporting artists at key moments in their careers. Through its residency programmes, the Cité internationale du cinéma d'animation serves as a workplace for experimentation and knowledge sharing, right at the core of the creative process.
Since 2020, CITIA has provided support for the development of animation feature films through a graphic development residency, an essential phase in the filmmaking process. This initiative has been made possible by the loyal support of its partners, including Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Département de la Haute-Savoie, DRAC Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, CNC, and Netflix.
After several years at the Papeteries – Image Factory, the winners will relocate to the centre of the Cité in autumn 2026. The Annecy Festival Residency will move into this new cultural venue – a historic and creative space designed to inspire the development of ambitious projects.
This commitment is further exemplified by the establishment of a new residency programme specifically for female directors of feature-length animation films, reflecting CITIA's ongoing dedication to fostering diversity in voices, perspectives, and storytelling.
