Visit the Cité with a Group

Starting in July 2026, the Cité internationale du cinéma d’animation will welcome groups and provide personalised tours that cater to the unique interests and requirements of each visitor.

Nestled between the lake and the mountains and right at the heart of a genuine urban oasis, the Cité provides the perfect setting to discover or rediscover the local heritage, while taking a deep dive into the rich, creative and diverse world of animation film.

At the Cité, every visit is an invitation to marvel at the magic of moving pictures. We have crafted itineraries that cater to everyone, from young minds to seasoned viewers, combining exhibition tours, hands-on art workshops and screenings to create a truly immersive and enjoyable experience.

Lasting just an hour or to a full day, each itinerary is led by a specialist guide, ensuring an experience specifically tailored to the pace and expectations of each group. Once you arrive, all you have to do is relax and enjoy the journey.

Guided Tours

Discover the fascinating history of animation film by exploring the Musée's permanent exhibition, or "Ankama's art in the Major Exhibition Ankama: From Sketch to saga, 25 Years of Creation".

Duration: 45 min to 1 hour 15 min
Age group: 6 to 99+

"Discover the Moving Image" Itinerary

This itinerary offers an introduction to the basics behind creating an animated image. You will look at everything from optical toys to animation films, exploring the secrets that bring still images to life. You can choose from different options, which will include either a creative workshop or a screening, as well as a visit to the permanent exhibition.

Techniques traditionnelles

"Traditional Techniques" Itinerary

This itinerary allows visitors to explore several traditional animation techniques. After watching a screening of short films or taking a tour of the Musée, participants will try their hand at stop-motion and paper cut-out animation on a multi-plane camera in a workshop, using original sets and equipment similar to that used in animation studios.

"Animate the Natural World" Itinerary

This itinerary examines how nature and living creatures are depicted in different animated worlds. Depending on the participants' ages, it is based either on a visit to the Major Exhibition "Ankama: From Sketch to Saga – 25 Years of Creation" or the Musée du cinéma d'animation. The group will then take part in the "Animated Bestiary" workshop and get hands-on with the exciting world of cut-out or stop-motion animation, using real sets and tools just like those in animation studios.

Eligible Organisations

This offer is intended for organisations and businesses who would like to arrange a group visit to the Cité internationale du cinéma d'animation. Eligible organisations in particular include the following:

  • social sector
  • youth sector
  • medical sector
  • cultural sector
  • tourism sector
  • professional sector (works councils, associations)


The following are not considered groups: families, groups of friends, colleagues outside their works council or equivalent.

Number of Participants

A group can consist of between 15 and 30 people. If you have more than 30 people, your reservation will be divided into two groups.

Reservation Terms and Conditions

Reservations are mandatory and must be made no later than three weeks before your visit.

  • For tours planned before 31st January 2027: reservations will open in May 2026
  • For tours planned after 31st January 2027: reservations will open on 30th November 2026.


Admission is free for accompanying adults, subject to and in accordance with the following rules:

Adults:
1 accompanying adult for every 15 to 30 adults.

Children:
For children under 6 years old: 2 accompanying adults for every 8 children (e.g. 4 accompanying adults for 30 children under 6 years old).
For children aged 6 and over: 2 accompanying adults for every 12 children (e.g. 3 accompanying adults for 30 children aged 6 and over).

Please make sure to settle your balance no later than when you arrive on the day:

The Day of Your Visit

A bus drop-off point is located at the performers' entrance to Bonlieu Scène nationale, at 1 Rue Jean Jaurès.

If you are travelling by public transport:

  • Annecy Station is a 5-minute walk away;
  • nearby bus stops include: Lycée Berthollet, Préfecture Pâquier, Courier and Bonlieu.


If you are coming for:

  • a film screening: please arrive 30 minutes before the film start time at the Cinema Reception (24, rue Jean Jaurès), where there is a waiting area and toilets.
  • a tour: please arrive 30 minutes before the first activity at the Group Reception (entrance via the park on the Halles du Haras side – rue de la Paix), where there is a waiting area, toilets and a cloakroom. 


Please remember to bring payment for the invoice balance.
