Graphic charter

The Cité internationale du cinéma d'animation's graphic charter is designed around a bold contrast between a deeply historical site and a contemporary visual identity.

The logo draws on a number of references: the zoetrope, an early optical toy that creates the illusion of movement; frame-by-frame animation; chiaroscuro; and, of course, the C for Cinema and Cité. Designed with contemporary typography created by a French foundry, it signifies a clear break with the past while expressing a fresh new dynamic.

This logo is also paired with a colour palette inspired by the sunrise, evoking the emergence of a new venue and a promising new beginning. These fresh, vibrant hues complement the original brick red colour of the Haras d'Annecy building, creating a subtle link between heritage and modernity. The result is a visually striking, dynamic and well-balanced identity, where memories of the past and aspirations for the future coexist in perfect harmony.
